Do you have knee pain from osteoarthritis? A research study is looking for adults ages 45–80 to test a new injection for knee arthritis pain.

Referral criteria summary

You are between 45 and 80 years old
You have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis with pain for at least 12 months
You have knee pain on more than 15 days in the past month
You have tried and not gotten enough relief from at least 2 treatments, such as structured exercise or NSAIDs
Your body mass index (BMI) is 40 or below
You are not currently pregnant, nursing, or planning to become pregnant in the next year
You have not received a steroid injection in the knee being studied in the past 3 months

About this study

This study is testing a new treatment called PCRX-201 (enekinragene inzadenovec) for people who have painful knee osteoarthritis. PCRX-201 is a gene therapy that is injected directly into the knee. It is designed to reduce inflammation that causes knee pain. The study will compare two different doses of PCRX-201 to a placebo (an inactive saline solution). All participants will also receive a single corticosteroid (steroid) injection in the knee before the study drug is given, to help reduce swelling.

If you join, you will receive one injection on your first study day. After that, you will come back for regular check-up visits during the first year, and then have yearly follow-up visits and phone calls for up to 5 years total. Study-related visits, tests, and the study drug are provided at no cost to you. You may also receive compensation for your time.

The study team will monitor your health closely throughout the entire study. Joining is completely voluntary, and you may leave at any time.
