Referral criteria summary

You are between 18 and 80 years old
You have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes
Your blood sugar (HbA1c) level is 9% or below
Your pain is moderate to severe on a standard 0–10 pain scale
You have not previously used Suzetrigine (SUZ), VX-993, or Journavx™
You are willing to stop other pain medications (except acetaminophen/Tylenol) for at least 14 days before starting the study

About this study

This study is testing whether a medication called Suzetrigine (SUZ) can help reduce pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). DPN can cause burning, tingling, and pain in the feet and legs. Researchers want to find out if SUZ works better than a placebo (inactive pill) and how it compares to pregabalin, a medication already approved for this type of pain.

If you join, you will be placed by chance into one of three groups: SUZ, pregabalin, or placebo. Neither you nor your study doctor will know which group you are in. You will take one tablet every morning and one capsule three times a day for 12 weeks. You will also use an electronic diary each day to record your pain level. Study visits will take place at the clinic, and your health will be closely monitored throughout.

Your participation is completely voluntary. You can leave the study at any time. All study-related tests, procedures, and study medications are provided at no cost to you. You may also be paid and reimbursed for travel and meals for your time and participation.
